Even on a weekly basis, it is hard to get track of weather variability. Of course climate change is a statistical variation. The Bureau of Meteorology suggests warmer maximum and minimum temperatures. We will experience whatever happens.

This title suggests colours. You could say it represents yellow and black. The reference does not stop with Dexter and Hannah. Other things going, especially on Sunday morning. The Rugby World Cup final was between the Wallabies and the All Blacks. As it happens, I saw an actual wallaby in Samson’s, the horse, paddock.

Dexter and Hannah were out again last week. The early warm weather seems to have “woken up” the snakes.

Kunduz Hospital: Just Another War Crime October 21, 2015

On Saturday, 3 October 2015, the US apparently with deliberation attacked a hospital run by Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Kunduz, Afghanistan (like most places there they have intriguing histories). This event, although egregious, is part of a pattern of international criminal impunity.

As always there are quite a few issues with the title. Of course, it is not a selection in quite the Dad and Dave sense. Still this suburban block abutting the bush is a home for Dexter and Hannah.

Languages are not just pronunciation and vocabularies. They are also grammars, which amount to ways of thinking about the world and making sense of relationships.

Our presence in the landscape perishes almost as soon as we leave it. Dexter and Hannah don’t do photographs but relish the information that smells provide. Walking tourists might leave the occasional imprint from their shoes, which does not last, and that is about it.

FRIDAY NIGHT DOG BLOG – Day by Day Rain September 26, 2015

We did not go out much this past week. Most days, with the exception of last Sunday, a gentle rain fell, which for some reason always brings to mind the quality of mercy. However, Dexter and Hannah did not feel twice blessed. There was no evidence that I noticed of whinging. Dogs can be problems at times, but they are not given to common human shortcomings.

FRIDAY NIGHT DOG BLOG – So Far, and So Near. September 20, 2015

Since it is now Spring, the park was open on Saturday and we diverted up towards the dam. The steepest options were chosen and it proved more demanding than I was prepared for. Dexter and Hannah took it good stride and probably thought nothing of it, other than there was more of interest on the ground.

Why do many of us have some many problems with English Grammar? Linguistics tend to blame the traditional grammarians for being too prescriptive, with varying degrees of intensity.

As you may guess, Dexter and Hannah stepped outside again this week for a jaunt on their leads, which went in every direction including the investigations of whatever was discovered on the ground. They are dogs, there life span is somewhat shorter than among fortunate humans.

Months and seasons seem arbitrary. The seasons especially so. It seems to be that the Wattles have been flowering for some time, and I have tried to capture that phenomenon in photos. So far, I have not heard the cicadas, but they will probably signify summer.

Installing Windows 10 proved more than I had envisaged. As a new system, very few people, and of course least of all me, knew what was going on. I would have to say I was totally deluded in relation to system operator and computer drivers. Through a multitude of missteps, and an odd part of good fortune, my system in now reinstalled. I would like to say that I am now reinvigorated, but that seems far from true. I seemed to have drained away.

This is the written submission I made. Don’t to under any illusion that I know anything about the grammar relating to verbs, or writing. The 300 word limit imposed discipline on extraneous observations, but I made dreadful mistakes, including of word order , which I have corrected here. I just wanted to be done.

This week we followed a new path to a familiar area. We visited the old mine dam. It was in parts a climb, but we all seemed to be able to take it in our stride. I heard a chain saw and voices through the trees, and it was a good idea to avoid any problems that might otherwise arise.

I have long understood that Dexter and Hannah move through a different sensory landscape than I experience. Or, maybe, I haven’t in reality being separated from their experiences. I am part of their stopping to sniff what they see, and their behavior is casually observed, often with impatience. We point our cameras at both objects and subjects, and it is an arbitrary distinction.
