The chances are good that Tony Abbott will be given his priors today. And then again he might survive the ship wreck. The problem with shipwrecks is that the boat cannot float any longer. Ask the captain of the Costa Concordia how that goes.

Here is the thing. And it has nothing to do whatsoever who might be Prime Minister now, or in the immediate future. We think we are pretty special.

(Delayed)
This week was mixed. There was heavy rain, but equally moderate temperatures with high humidity. Dexter and Hannah got out on some days. The creek at the crossing flowed for one day only. The rain was probably heavier than I remember.

Why would the Indians be playing cricket in the first place? Presumably, because they can be criticized by an Australian cricketer and told to speak English.

Mostly when we turn back it has something to do with the environment. For example, I could not cross the creek. Although a flowing creek at the crossing is a seeming distant memory.

Now might be as good a time as any to consider what happens in Afghanistan. What the military commitment to Afghanistan worth the cost and loss of lives? Have we in general ever really cared about what happens to the people in Afghanistan, Yemen and elsewhere subject to murderous and cruel drone attacks.

If it is true that everything is transient, then good fortune will pass in due course. There is a suggestion, and it is difficult to what credence some intelligence might have that much of the area will be converted to housing. Meanwhile Dexter and Hannah live in the present.
