El Nino and Rain in South America December 31, 2015

It was a puzzle to me as how El Nino would be attributed as the cause for the heavy rain and flooding in Northern Argentina, Southern Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. So I posed the question at Skeptical Science with responses: How did El Nino bring on these heavy rains?.

Dual Dog Blog: Summer Starts December 10, 2015

I do not seem able to complete on time the weekly presentation of photos. It was always going to be a more difficult task with the passage of time. Now, there are emergent signs that I am no longer physically capable of completing the walks. Let’s hope that conclusion is inaccurate.

Death in the US Working Class December 5, 2015

Normally these people in the American way are given a racial classification, and described as working.

The presumption made is that neo-liberalism is new. The cruelty and structural violence has much in common with the conditions created for British underclass in the 19th Century. The Basingstoke Union Workhouse in 1881 describes the inmates. Unlike then, migration is not an option.
