Both Dexter and Hannah are as right as the rain now falling, but for April and May the photo record of their jaunts (or walks) have not been realized, although photos were taken. The fact is there are too many photos.

As the BBC noted “It’s been a week of flooding in Peru, a heatwave in India and rain hitting South-East Asia.” And in Australia there has been Cyclone Debbie and its consequences.

The rain keeps falling. As they say it is weather for ducks, and because the creek was flooding we took a walk up to the dam.We had a storm on Wednesday, but with luck and the information that is now readily to hand, we  got home before  it occurred.

Let’s talk about the weather. There have been just three days so far this month without rain. And if this pattern continues, as expected, a record will be broken.

The world keeps on turning. That part of the system is pretty constant. Natural systems almost invite variation, and that would be equally true for embedded
sub-systems whether they are human or canine bodies for instance. Still if there were usual variation in the in the rotation of the Earth or its axis, such a change would not escape instant attention.

NOT YET THE END February 12, 2017

At some point at the road of an individual’s life unfurls, there is the realization that the planning horizon has closed in. That may be a very selfish moment, or the culmination of long term selfishness. Other people may inherit a world that will sustain their lives and fulfil their humanity, but that beggars belief and probability given dominant political and economic agendas.

The days race along. Last week it was so-called Australia Day on 26 January. New Year was but a few weeks previously. Still the dogs go out most days.

Christmas Day 2016 December 27, 2016

As we are reminded every year the celebration of Christmas has pagan associations. It suggests to me that much of the population of Western Europe were nominally Christian and that folk traditions were remembered and continued, especially at the periphery. Arguably,in that sense, not much has changed

Dog Blog: Random Photos August 4, 2016

Some memories are clear. Some are not. I remember the Latin inscription under the clock at school, Tempus Fugit. It turns out that time does fly. The more recent to take time and not rush despite the demands sometimes placed over us. By making a random selection of photos, I am attempting to compress time, while overcoming the problem of sameness.

Metaphors aside, the birds that can be heard, but not exactly understood, do actually fly. In so far as they speak to me – perhaps poetically – I understand them to say, “You humans forget about us”. The irony is that is not all we forget about.

The weeks slip by. Dexter and Hannah go out on many days, and sometimes recently too late. This means I have to get the torch out to come safely down the embankment. My memory fades from day to day and the photos help.

May is not turning out to be the friendly and obliging month that the name would suggest. Nonetheless, Dexter and Hannah have continued on their walks followed by the camera. However, some of the photo record has been obliterated, which was simultaneous with the crash of my desktop.

The dog blogs have not been happening recently. The is not that Dexter and Hannah have been getting out, or – heaven forbid – there was a shortage of photos. The reason for inertia in the universe probably is most related to size and the mass of the bodies. I have no idea if it is true but  I suppose that energy forms at the sub-atomic level are not inert.

An environment can be photographed, but to be experienced it must be understood. Experience is a function of shared collective programming of mind. There is more to the stories of culture – but it seems to be the case we miss much.

To clarify, most days were sunny at some stage, but they gave way to overcast conditions with rain, and on one day an intense, hour-long hail storm. The latter event, I have now been told. caused minor damage to a neighbours car.

Invasion Day came and went for another year. It might be an exercise in historical reflection, but it never seems to deliver. For example, considering last year, if given a chance, Phil would probably say his jousting days are done. The only memory I have this year is of the sound of lawn mowers – a more apt metaphor.
