Installing Windows 10 proved more than I had envisaged. As a new system, very few people, and of course least of all me, knew what was going on. I would have to say I was totally deluded in relation to system operator and computer drivers. Through a multitude of missteps, and an odd part of good fortune, my system in now reinstalled. I would like to say that I am now reinvigorated, but that seems far from true. I seemed to have drained away.

FRIDAY NIGHT DOG BLOG – Tangents August 8, 2015

This week we followed a new path to a familiar area. We visited the old mine dam. It was in parts a climb, but we all seemed to be able to take it in our stride. I heard a chain saw and voices through the trees, and it was a good idea to avoid any problems that might otherwise arise.

I have long understood that Dexter and Hannah move through a different sensory landscape than I experience. Or, maybe, I haven’t in reality being separated from their experiences. I am part of their stopping to sniff what they see, and their behavior is casually observed, often with impatience. We point our cameras at both objects and subjects, and it is an arbitrary distinction.

As far as Dexter and Hannah are concerned, there attention can sometimes seem as it is drawn to every blade of grass. There senses often prove more acute, and it is wise to take notice.

I don’t remember having a winter this cold. Sure, this is a limited memory. I have heard stories of other places where it is now and was colder by far.

There are no enough responses for the survey to have any credibility, but recently in conversation I have been masking the assumption that Bureau of Meteorology forecasts are accurate. None of my interlocutors have contradicted the assumption.

FRIDAY NIGHT DOG BLOG: Winter Solstice June 28, 2015

The Winter Solstice came and went this past week. The Southern Hemisphere expression does not seem to be given the same significance as that in the Northern Hemisphere. It is not associated, for example, with Christmas, the dying sun and the rising sun. Still, it may be expected that the weather might start to get warmer from here on. And what will follow?

Of course, it is not just Dexter and Hannah that need to be handled with care. We might just have got the hang of getting in and out of the new harnesses, mentioned last week.

Memories fade, and sometimes they are lost. Digital photography mostly tends to stick around. I did lose some photos this week which cannot be replaced. The photos I use are very few compared to what was available. What is presented is an edited version, mixed together.

Last week was not particularly active. The dogs stayed at homes for half the week. It is hard to remember but there was probably enough rain to justify this state of affairs. Dexter and Hannah took that in their stride, but it did not deter them there would be more opportunities to venture out.

FRIDAY DOG BLOG: NOT DARK YET May 17, 2015

While still in the mid-May it seems the Earth spins and rotates on, and does not wait for any man and his dogs. The result is that by late afternoon things start to get dark, and a little chilly over the past week. Often while the light seems adequate, the camera shows only darkened images.

I don’t know what the dogs think. I don’t fully appreciate their sensual space. They presumably are not totally conditioned, or instinctual. Maybe they live in the moment and have full awareness. Then again like humans they grow old, which ought to give any being a sense of the past.

The weather has been on our minds. We had heavy rain the week the week before, and mid-week the rain returned. It has stayed around.

The gentle rain over the past few days may be straining the quality of mercy. Dexter and Hannah have been confined, and stretching the metaphor they seem to be taking it in their stride.

Unlike in the other hemisphere, the Autumn Equinox does not seem to be a big deal. Surely, it must mark the last of summer, and the underlying menace of bushfires. Yet the weather has been warm and sunny. When overcast it has been humid.

Of all the weather options, rain is one of the better options. And we had a few wet days this week. That is part of the reason Dexter and Hannah did not go out at much as they would have liked.
