This week was mixed. There was heavy rain, but equally moderate temperatures with high humidity. Dexter and Hannah got out on some days. The creek at the crossing flowed for one day only. The rain was probably heavier than I remember.

Today was hot and humid, and that reflects acclimatizing. I heard the sound of thunder, but was in denial. The weather quickly changed from sunny with clear skies to storm and overcast.

Now might be as good a time as any to consider what happens in Afghanistan. What the military commitment to Afghanistan worth the cost and loss of lives? Have we in general ever really cared about what happens to the people in Afghanistan, Yemen and elsewhere subject to murderous and cruel drone attacks.

Now it is starting to feel like summer, and that might be a portent. We seemed to have transitioned from one year to another.The actual year is a cultural artifact. While there may be different Buddhist calendars this year, at least in Thailand, is 2558.
