Wither representative democracy? The crass behavior of the former State Labor Government and the criminal behavior of some players at the local level, in particular property developers, led to the sacking of the Wollongong City Council, and the introduction of the notion of community democracy – “democracy in the deep sense”.

A PATH WITHOUT HEART September 24, 2008

One way of considering the options before the US voters in November is to consider theĀ  choice as a selection of different paths. Carlos Castaneda in The Teaching of Don Juan, suggested that there were many spiritual paths that could be followed, and they might be equally good, but the question, and the only question, to pose was: Do they have a heart? The question has been put to me: What is consciousness? I am completely insensible when it comes to answering such questions, other than in this case to suggest that consciousness is awareness combined with language. “Insensible” as you might gather is a refinement, but failure to answer is a frustration nonetheless.
