FRIDAY NIGHT DOG BLOG: REFLECTIONS October 13, 2012

The rain requested came this week with thunder, lightning and unseasonable cold. The rain was needed.
I heard a loud banging, eventually discovered the side gate was swinging in the wind. As far as I know the dogs did not take this opportunity and if they did they returned without my knowing.
I did not take them out yesterday, although the rain had stopped in the morning, but it would have been wet underfoot. So I decided not to commune with nature. Dexter and Hannah never imagined that they could be separate from the natural world. Human beings, it would seem will have to reinvent a relationship with it, or destroy the ecology in a prolonged fit of absent mindedness.
But we stopped for some photos, and sometimes we missed our opportunities.

There was a Kookaburra on the power lines which flew off before I could get my act together. Leonard Cohen has the imagery in his song “Bird on a Wire”:

This song sung by Joan Baez fits an ecological theme. I think this was the tune that was in my head. She sings, “The Rose”:

We imagine that Friday Ark will be sailing, and Dexter and Hannah will start barking when they see the sails.

Picasa was the intermediary used to arrange the photos.
