FRIDAY NIGHT DOG BLOG – BOTH SIDES February 28, 2009

A bumper sticker, echoing Chief Seattle, declares: “The earth does not belong to us. We belong to the earth.”

(Just to add to nuance, the car owner is a South African and the bumper also carries that country’s flag.)

There are creatures out there, other than humans and dogs. This week we happened upon some rainbow lorikeets and a red-bellied black snake. Every creature with whom we share the earth has different points of view, different perceptions.

…………………………………………………………………………………..

Dexter and Sasha looked happy at this moment:

Around the corner, the rainbow lorikeets came visiting.

Much to my surprise I was able to get a close up:

In the visiting mood, we thought we would visit Peebles again:

Sasha has an outlook on life:

Dexter too:

Seeing the trees, and searching for the big picture:

Something of interest is going on:

A red bellied black snake finds some sun to recharge:

I was not passing attention, and luckily the dogs walked right on by, but I went back to take the photo.

Carbon collectors in view (they ought to be respected):

Seeing both sides:

Close but not quite the message of Joni Mitchell’s song:

As the official summer draws to a close, we will to look to see what autumn offers, and hope for the best.

We will again run to catch Friday Ark before it leaves, and hope to board at Modulator.

Those Lorikeets look a lot like parrots (except that the Indian parrots are all green except their curved beaks, which are red.) They are very beautiful:) I wouldn’t want to chase them away:)

Where’s Cooper? (I must’ve missed some post.) Dexter n Sasha look wonderful as usual. I haven’t seen your shadow in the recent pictures. Have you started wearing some kind of invisibility cloak?

Mr. wmmbb, how do you know so much about politics? I have this vague feeling that you aren’t the politician-type yourself. Please excuse my canine curiosity and feel free to skip the answers:)

Mercury’s computer has blanked out, so I am teletyping…it requires a lot of effort…I can’t continue…oh…oh…my powers are failing….ooooo….g’bye….

slammmm! Ouch!

Where am I?

….licks n wags,
Oorvi

Firstly, you are right Oorvi they are parrots. They come into our yard but they do not hang around. Perhaps that is because of the k9s?

Cooper has gone to Albany in Western Australia with his “owner”, and we have not heard any more. A neighbour confirmed he left with Glen, but I had my doubts as to how that would work out, since he was planning to work in the North West. Perhaps I should make some further inquiries.

Some people might think I know very little about politics, but I did study it once or twice as part of other courses.

Teletyping? Sounds far too difficult.

Thanks Oorvi.

Love the birds.. and even the snake (at least from this distance :-) ) The colours of the birds are exceptional. And little Pebbles seems to be a sweetheart, although he/she does have a determined air. Happenings like this add flavour to the walk.

Sorry Colleen, I missed your comment.

The snake is fine, as long as the dogs are not bitten. Then, there are big problems. And if they get bitten, it will probably not be the snakes doing.

Peebles always barks when we come by. This time we went up to see her.

So thank you for your comment. I included your countrywomen here, which I know you will approve of.

Joni Mitchell has been a favoured artist of mine for many years.. as has been her song, “Both Sides Now”. As the years pass she only gets better as does my understanding of the depth to the lyrics of her songs.
Thank you for this video as some time has passed since I last heard it.

Thanks for the comment Colleen.

As you mention, lyrics take on a new completion by contrast when sung by older and established artists who have their loyal fans.
