FRIDAY NIGHT DOG BLOG – A TIME TO COMPARE December 5, 2008

The seasons change with the turning of the pages of the calendar. Summer seems to have surreptitiously come upon us. It is the season for bush fires – which are doomed to worsen – and poetic comparisons.

The location remains mostly the same, but Sasha, Dexter, and most days this week, Cooper, strike different poses.

…………………………………………………………………………..

The dogs are sometimes unfairly compared to philosophers. Dexter, like Diogenes, carries his barrel with him. Here at least Sasha and Dexter are too positive to be cynics:

Sometimes the laid back feeling is pervasive. Cooper shares the spirit – could it be Summer Wine?

The association suggests a song sung by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood:

The moods of the dogs vary -

“Every prospect pleases”:
We are not here again are we?
William Shakespeare expressed the comparison with a summer’s day. Freema Agyeman portrayed Martha Jones in Doctor Who:

Enough comparing for here are the individual players, caught in different acts and scenes.

Sasha ready for the next stage:

Credence Clearwater song – perhaps prophetically – puts a damper on things. The way through the morass of global warming lies with the acceptance the cause and responsibility is human. Perhaps a bad moon need not rise:

Sasha is caught in the moment:

Dexter has second thoughts about the path leading to nowhere:

Dexter has reason to smile:

Cooper looks up on request:

We will endeavor to make there before the tide turns and catch Friday Ark, the crew and all the passengers, again this week

Hi Mr. wmmbb,

Either something is wrong with my browser, or with the new, improved wordpress! I can’t see the pictures (though I can see the videos!)

About those bush-fires…
Since this year’s been full of surprises, who knows, there may be less bush-fires this year:) We need some positives to maintain a balance…and to stay motivated – until this phase ends!

Licks n Wags,
Oorvi

Just thought that you might be curious:
jang to chand roz hoti hai, zindagi barson talak roti hai
translates to:
Battles are fought over a few days, but those who remain (alive) cry for years.

Thanks Oorvi.

The pictures are on the way. Should be about 24 hours I understand.

Especially thanks for the translation. That statement is so true, and it applies to for “the winners” of the battle.

As for bush fires, it is largely a matter of cross-fingers and hope for the best. The main thing we can do is hope that people will not light fires, or be careless with fire. The company that owns the land at the back of our place is undertaking some clearing which is good. I let it get overgrown then it too much for me to cut back and carry away all the lantana and other material.
