BLOG WRITING August 27, 2008Posted by wmmbb in Blogging in general.
I write a blog, but principally for my own amusement. You may not be surprised that I have been tossed from listing among select blogrolls, which was pleasing in a way – too much pressure – especially with discerning readers such as yourself. I don’t want to be seen in the company where I would lower the standards.
I desire to be idiosyncratic and prejudiced while aspiring the values of writing informed with reason, evidence and humanity. The last value, in my experience, is the easiest accomplished, and the least appreciated.
Gore Vidal comments on “the sense of suffocation one experiences reading so much bad writing.” You have been warned.
There is a contradiction here and I should address. As Kevin suggested in comments I had thought perhaps I was being “censored”, but on second thoughts it occurred to me their could be reasons to decouple my site if it was causing problems for a host. Equally, I suppose any blog has the right to select who they like. They do not ask my permission either way.
This blog has been restored to the Oz Politics blogroll. I have posted the email I received from Wollongong Against Corruption, which I believe will be of wider interest in NSW and Australia. Community Democracy and Local Government are, I believe, crucial, ingredients of a democratic society. With the sacking of the Council, and its replacement by Administrators, we have the opportunity to address problems and perhaps come up with creative solutions – even if others are thought of them first.
