John Locke beat me to the essay by several years, but perhaps at least in one respect he needs some updating since decisions that result in the deaths of people have increased in magnitude. A compassionate understanding of consequences of decisions and actions, know that war is the last resort. The fact that Iraq was not a war of last resort says it’s advocates
