STRANGE OR STRANGER? April 20, 2008

Colleen at Simply Coll has started a meme, at least with me and a few of her other readers. The Myers-Briggs personality test and multiple intelligence test as per Howard Gardiner are given online. These tests, as it typical of personality tests, are based on multiple choice questions and answers. My problem is that I cannot easily answer the questions. It is not as it I am lying (or though I think that would be relatively easy to manufacture outcomes) . So these tests do not really work for me.

As you might expect they reveal – if that is the word I want – the person that I might be:

Personality tests do not have a reputation for being reliable. They are more subjective than objective and I recognize the contradiction between having a higher intrapersonal score and a lower rating on accurate subjectivity. Then again perhaps that is what these tests measure. To my way of thinking these tests are not sufficiently objective, although I do not discount subjective measures. In fact if both approaches were adopted and compared the results would be more interesting.

You too can join in the fun at My Personality.

These tests were fun and I too take the results with a grain or two of salt.. but I must admit.. if I am honest.. I think they nabbed me. :-)

Colleen,
I just have a lot of trouble with the questions. But I am interested that you consider your results accurate.
