Chalmers Johnson wraps it up on this video by saying, “That is the way that empires end, it is a suicide pact”. Through numerous interviews he has his case pared down to the essentials. The details is in his books and articles. Long story short: The wall is fast approaching and something, probably the US economy has to give. America, he says is going bankrupt.
Still as he says in his article for TomDispatch, the Military Industrial Complex, which as we remember President Eisenhower warned against, has been in full swing since 1950. By its nature it is rapacious, and the global war against terror has seen it increase in expenditure by 45%.
John Pilger, for one, is of the view that not much changes in American politics. The complementary view to that of Chalmers Johnson was presented by Martin Luther King. Then again we might want to wider our horizons, and take from the global perspective.
